EVERYONE LIVES

A creative life.

Creativity - Journaling - intuitive art

I was introduced to a drawing a day by a close friend to help me through some of my own creative blocks. It quickly became a visual snapshot of my life, sharing the good and the uncomfortable. It allowed me to create freely and express my emotions that at times, my words could not. These moments became my own illustrated album and I reflect on them often capturing my life in colourful scribbles, paintings, cartoons and sketches.

I found my own healing in journaling and started experimenting with intuitive art. This is a form of creative expression that allows you to share what feelings are on the inside rather than replicating something in your external world. There is no right or wrong way when it comes to this form of creating and every creation is a reflection, not an expectation.

My workshops are set up to explore, experiment and access your own inner voice by using different mediums, colours and techniques. The classes are suited to all skill levels and for you, the adult whose inner child is curious and creative.

For those of you who feel they can’t draw, you are exactly who I love working with and if you are feeling nervous or unsure I hope these words from Amy Poehler change that for you

“I THINK IT’S GLORIOUS TO BE NERVOUS. BEING NERVOUS IS GREAT! HOW OFTEN DO WE GET NERVOUS ON A DAILY BASIS? BEING SLIGHTLY NERVOUS MEANS YOU CARE, AND YOU’RE ALIVE, AND YOU’RE TAKING SOME KIND OF RISK. HOORAY FOR BEING NERVOUS! A FRIEND TOLD ME TO SUBSTITUTE THE WORD  ‘NERVOUS’ FOR ‘EXCITEMENT’ THAT WAY YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THE PHYSICAL FEELINGS WITHOUT PUTTING A NEGATIVE SPIN ON THINGS.”

Serena’s class is a tonic. She generously shared her art practice and her journey. Her workshop made me feel comfortable to draw with fresh eyes. Totally inspiring!

“I thoroughly enjoyed the visual journalling course. Having no previous art experience, Serena provided lots of support, guidance and created a safe environment to give things a go and learning to accept imperfection. I was able to connect with an artistic and creative part of myself that I didn’t know existed! Classes were engaging, fun and stimulating. I have learnt a practice that I will take forward with me for life, as an important way to practice mindfulness, self-care, gratitude and self-discovery. Thank you Serena!”
